The Doctors at OMSH
When you visit Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of Houston you aren’t just seeing a dentist, you are seeing an oral surgeon. All of our doctors are diplomats of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, making them one of the most elite teams of oral surgeons in the Greater Houston Area.
Dr. Paul Metz, DDS, MD
Dr. Metz is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science. He went on to attend the top dental school in the United States, the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio where he received his D.D.S degree in 1997. Dr. Metz went continued at UTHSC for his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery where he ranked at the top of his class. He earned his Medical Doctorate from UTHSC in 2001 and is a medical physician. He completed the remainder of his 6-year post-doctorate residency in San Antonio.
Dr. Metz is originally from the Houston area and returned after completing his specialty training. His experience ranges the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with an emphasis on dental implants, orthognathic surgery, and grafting procedures. When Dr. Metz is not in the office, he enjoys hunting, fishing, wildlife ranch management, skiing, and spending time with his wife and three daughters.
Dr. Shelly L. Seidel, DDS, MD
Dr. Seidel attended Baylor University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha That Sorority. She pursued her D.D.S. degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Dental Branch where she was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Seidel graduated in 1999 and entered the integrated Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at the University of Texas.
Once her residency was completed, Dr. Seidel stayed in the Houston area. She is proud to offer patients a full scope of Oral and Facial Surgery care, with a gentle touch she has become known for.
When Dr. Seidel is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and daughter. Dr. Seidel is involved in many social activities in her community and enjoys mentoring new and soon to be graduates of dental school.
Dr. John G. Orfanos, DDS, MD
Dr. Orfanos was born and raised in McAllen, Texas, and attended Texas A&M University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Development. In 2002, Dr. Orfanos began his dental education at the University of Texas Dental Branch of Houston. He would go on to complete broad scope training at Case Western Reserve University to acquire his Medical Doctorate as well as his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Orfanos offers a full scope of services with specific interests and expertise in dental implants, orthognathic surgery, and sleep apnea.
When Dr. Orfanos is not in the office, he enjoys photography, golf, cooking, working on the family ranch, watching sports, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
