What Is An Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon?
An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMS) is a medical specialist who treats and performs surgeries on or in the oral (mouth) and maxillofacial (jaws and face) regions of your body. In order to qualify as an OMS, a candidate must undergo a rigorous 4 to 6-year training program after graduating from dental school. For instance, only those who graduate at the top of their class are selected for the program.
