Zygomatic Implants in Houston, TX
A solution for patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw
If you’ve been told that traditional dental implants aren’t an option due to bone loss in your upper jaw, zygomatic implants may be the answer.
What Are Zygomatic Implants?
Zygomatic implants are specially designed implants that anchor into the cheekbone (zygomatic bone) instead of the upper jawbone. This technique is ideal for patients who have experienced significant bone loss and may not be candidates for bone grafts or sinus lifts.
Who Can Benefit from Zygomatic Implants?

You may be a good candidate if you:
-
Have been told you don’t have enough bone for regular implants
-
Have had failed bone grafts or sinus lifts
-
Are missing many or all upper teeth
-
Are looking for a permanent, fixed alternative to dentures
-
Have experienced trauma, infection, or tumor removal that affected your upper jaw
Why Choose Zygomatic Implants?
-
No need for bone grafting or sinus lifts
-
Faster treatment time and often same-day teeth with immediate loading
-
High success rates – studies show a 96% survival rate after 12 years
-
Fixed, long-lasting results that improve your ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently
How Does the Procedure Work?
-
Typically, one zygomatic implant is placed on each side of the upper jaw, sometimes along with 2–4 regular implants in the front.
-
For patients with no upper jawbone left, a “quad zygoma” technique may be used (two implants on each side).
-
These implants are placed under sedation or general anesthesia by a highly trained oral surgeon.
-
Your new teeth may be placed the same day.
Is It Safe?
Zygomatic implants are a well-studied and reliable procedure when performed by experienced surgeons. As with any surgery, there are risks. The most common is sinus inflammation, but this can be minimized with advanced planning and surgical techniques.
What to Expect:
-
Comprehensive 3D imaging and planning with CT scans
-
A skilled surgical team experienced in zygomatic placement
-
A fixed set of teeth, often on the same day
-
Shorter treatment time compared to traditional implants with grafting
