- Proper oral hygiene – We cannot stress enough how important brushing and flossing your implants is on a daily basis. There is never a good reason to skip this habit. If food is stuck or wedged into the implant, you can begin to suffer from gum disease. If this infection gets bad enough, you could end up with implants that fail.
- Proper checkups – Just like with your natural teeth, you need a dental check-up once every six months. This will give the dentist a chance to check the structure of your gums and jawbone to ensure that they are still strong enough to support the implant.
- Chewing proper foods – Technically, you do not have to watch what you eat with dental implants, but if you are putting rear implants through excessive chewing, they could prematurely fail. Try to watch the chewy foods that you choose and if you do eat them, cut them into very small pieces to protect your implants.
