The last few weeks have been a whirlwind since the COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped the world we live in.  We were limited to treating emergencies for a while, but our office is open and ready to treat our oral surgery patients, new and established!

It’s Safe, Come See Us!

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the average person didn’t think about infection control much, but that has not been the case for the team at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of Houston.  Infection control has always been one of our top priorities because it allows us to provide safe and comfortable services to each patient.

Simply put: dentists are masters at infection control.  Those practices have not changed since the emergence of COVID-19, but you will find that we have ramped up our processes to ensure you can safely get the oral surgery and safe dental care that you need.  We are following the current CDC and ADA guidelines to ensure that we are providing the absolute safest care possible.

Changes to Your In-Office Experience

This is a fluid situation, so you may find our new processes will change from time to time as new best practices are developed. Rest assured, we will communicate with you before and during your appointment so you know what to expect along the way.

Currently, our additional enhanced infection control measures may include some changes to your office experience.  For example:

  • Our office will communicate with you before your appointment to ask some basic screening questions.
  • Patients will be asked to wait in their car until we ask them to come in for their appointment.
  • When the patient checks in they will be provided a mask and taken to a separate room and asked the same screening questions and will have their temperature checked before being taken to an exam room.
  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter our office. You will find hand sanitizer stations in the reception area and throughout the office so you can apply as needed.
  • You may notice that we are not providing magazines and children’s toys in the waiting room. This is because these items are difficult to disinfect.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. This may mean that you have fewer scheduling options for your appointment.

Other than these measures, you will find that your time spent in the OMSH office is much like it was before COVID-19.  Our dedication continues to be to provide each patient with care that will reduce pain and restore confidence, even in unprecedented times.
